Jkalika (pronounced zhuh-LEE-kuh) Designs, LLC, is a small, family run business located in Minneapolis, MN. Our goal is to provide high quality, personalized and cherished semi-precious stone jewelry to our wonderful clientele while continuing to learn and grow in our chosen field.

Tai Jkalika Salisbury started her business in 2004 under the name of The Animal Experience, LLC, seeking to help people develop a better connection with their animals, primarily dogs. Her qualifications included being a Certified Veterinary Technician and Certified Tellington TTouch practitioner, an addition to canine training and behavior experience. Tai also began taking Reiki classes to be able to offer another “angle” to her clients. As she began learning more about energy healing, Tai re-discovered her complete fascination with rocks, stones and minerals.

As time went on and she learned how to make jewelry, it became clear to Tai that stones (and energy healing) were her true passions. The question she asked herself was how she could best impact people to improve life for them and their pets.

In 2008, Tai decided to combine the Reiki healing from The Animal Experience and the stones and jewelry from LadyRocks! Healing (a division of TAE developed to market jewelry) and from Jkalika Designs. Tai is now a Certified Reiki Master, Master of Crystology in Melody’s tradition, and currently taking classes in jewelry making to expand the line of jewelry she offers.

Bryan received an Associates of Applied Science degree from Minnesota School of Business in Computer Graphics and Multimedia. Bryan married Tai in 2003 and it has been a roller coaster ride ever since!! He has remained steadfastly supportive in all of Tai’s pursuits, and currently provides all photography, web & graphic design and accounting services used by Jkalika Designs, as well as being a wonderful father to their 3 dogs and 3 cats. Bryan enjoys artistic photography, old muscle cars, music, movies, gaming, biking and computers. He is also employed as a Graphic Designer/Systems Administrator for a small mathematics publishing company located in St. Louis Park.

Carol Salisbury knew she was in for it as soon as she gave birth to Tai 37 years ago and it certainly has been a bumpy ride. As well as raising Tai, and her brother Troy, Carol and her husband Jack (yes, that is Tai’s dad) owned Salisbury Auctions, Ltd in Ft. Collins, Co for 25 years. After that, she worked as the office manager for Senator Wayne Allard for 10 years. She is even recognized in the Congressional Record for her duties. Officially retired now, Carol works harder than ever! Luckily for Tai, she loves making bracelets for Jkalika Designs and is a great asset. Thank you, Mom!!

Mika joined Tai 13 years ago—they met in a corner lot backyard and knew it was love at first sight. Mika has worked very hard to teach Tai and help her grow. Now she is helping Tai to learn about caring for a loved on in their “Golden Years.” Mika has always been unfailingly loyal, as well as stubborn, stand-offish and continuously protective. Everybody who knows her loves her as the wise soul that she is.
UPDATE: Mika is now watching over Tai from the other side. She left peacefully on August 17, 2008 after having some sort of stroke type event early in the morning. We miss her terribly.

M’kai is the sweet one. There really isn’t much else to say! Please don’t hate him because he is beautiful…

Lexie likes to be known as the BIG dog. However, she usually settles for being the smart one. And the funny one. As a Jack Russell Terrier, she has it all going on in a 12 pound package. You can think of her as dynamite that sleeps under the covers with you.
